Donna MacTavish

Instructor

Donna was bitten by the competitive dog sport bug more than 15 years ago. Her main sport of choice was flyball, until she found a disc dog. Now with her OG sport dogs tearing it up at the bridge, Donna competes and trains with her German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP), Churro, and semi retired Jack Russell Terrier, Queso. Her words to live by and what you’ll hear her say repetitively, is her hashtag; Go Have Fun With Your Dog, because that’s the point! If you’re not enjoying what you’re doing, you’re not living. #gohavefunwithyourdog

Donna is owned by...

Queso: 11 year old Jack Russel Terrier who has just about done it all! His main sports of choice are flyball and disc, closely followed by dock diving and favourite winter sport of skijoring. He loves to find the rats in RATS! Canada and has also dabbled in Barn Hunt. He has earned his Flyball Master Champion title (15,000 pts) and Iron Dog Award for 10 consecutive years in racing in flyball, multiple awards in disc dog, and has appeared in the feature film A Dog’s Purpose. He really is a “do it all dog” and a mini ride or die guy.
Chili: 9 year old sport mix who just loves to work. This little spit fire is a nationally ranked freestyle disc dog (with her favourite human, The Dog Dad). They have also earned her Flyball Master Excellent title (10,000 pts) with over 10,800 points (and counting!),and a series of trick titles, She has earned numerous titles in RATS!, and she will even come out to run in harness with Churro for some time on the trails skijoring. She loves to compete but she also loves to work. She has been my working dog in classes for years. Her neutrality and communication around all different types of dogs has been instrumental in helping me teach many people and their canine companions about calm behaviours. She truly is her (their) perfect little Chili dog.

Fun fact about how Chili thinks… working = treatos, and treatos = life!!
Churro: an almost 2 year old German Shorthair Pointer who is turning out to be everything she set out to find in her "next dog”. He is going places and she is just along for the ride. He loves to do anything they can do together, but especially loves his “birdie friends” whom he escorts around the yard on a daily basis. They are very active is disc dog, is settling into his lead dog role as a skijoring partner, taking to flyball with ease, and they are getting their feet wet in agility. Donna can’t wait to see where Churro takes them!
